Oh boy, you've made a mess.

1) Remove the water pump and clean the mounting surfaces on both the pump and the block. Use a scraper and the chemical gasket remover if necessary to get to clean bare metal.

2) Clean the mounting bolts of any and all crud. Apply teflon tape to all the threads on all the bolts.

3) Apply a little Permatex non-hardening gasket maker to both surfaces of the gaskets and stick them onto the water pump.

4) Bolt the water pump to the black..make sure the bolts are good and tight.

5) Reassemble everything else.....

It's compatible with paper gaskets and is a proven performer in this application. RTV has it's places and might work here but Permatex s a great choice....

I have always used spray-a-gasket to coat the water pump gaskets. It keeps the area neat without gasket maker protruding everywhere and into the water jackets. Never once had a leak.

They will both work fine. Do remember that either of these are to be used with the gasket and not by themselves in this installation.
