LE3 Heads with my cam.. Power Predictions???

Hello... I have/had a 383 that tossed a couple of rods through the oil pan. I am in the process of getting parts together for a nice 355... I will be using a forged 355 kit from Probe Industries which will include foged H-beam rods, forged crank, and forged free floating pistons. I will be running a 12:1 compression ratio and an Isky cam that I was planning on using in the 383 (234i/246e @.050, .530i/.550e lift with a 112 LSA) and I am planning on using either the LE2 or LE3 heads..

My question is, does anyone have any good ballpark ideas on what kind of power I will be looking at to the wheels? This is a t56 car with a street twin with the aluminum flywheel, and a built 10 bolt with 4.10 gears (road course/autox/canyon car). Im estimating in the 420's, but would like to get some other peoples input on this number.

Also I will be running either Edelbrock midlength headers or a set of Arizona Speed and Marine longtubes (if the deal goes through) with a custom Y-pipe, no cat, and a 3" catback exhaust system. For Intake I will be running a ported LT1 intake and a "Customized" BBK 58mm throttle Body. I have a set of SVO 30# injectors, but I have no problem upgrading these to 34# or 36# if neccessary... All other fuel requirements have been met (Aeromotive FPR, Walboro 255lph in tank pump, etc)

Any help would be great..

Thanks,
Mike

I'd say 400ish rwhp is a pretty good guess.

For the headers, the Edel's are shorty and they have the smallest primaries of any header you can buy. The AS&M's are 1 3/4" and mid-length. For a heads and cam car, I'd think the Edel's would leave a good chunk of power on the table. The AS&M's would be what I'd go with.

As for the injectors, I'm not sure - but I think 30# will feed it fine, but someone with more knowledge in this area will have to help you.

That setup will be nice....

Lloyds LE3 package has a cam that's probably worth about 10hp more than that Isky grind (with 1.6 rockers) Theres just not enough overlap on the Isky cam to make good HP at the high end, but he could also get a custom cam for your setup that would maximize TQ and HP for your road racing.

See.. I dont have the money for the other cam.. I do however already have the cam that I listed..

What is the difference between the cam that I have and the one that Lloyd offers in the LE3 package.. Does anyone know what the duration is on that cam?

Im just wondering what kind of power I should see at the wheels with the LE2/3 heads and the cam that I have.. If I make 420 I will be happy as a clam!

Thanks Guys!

The LE3 cam is supposed to be bigger than the GM 847 (a quick search will turn up the specs on this). Exact specs are not given out until it's purchased with heads.

You can always shoot Lloyd an email and get straight from the horses mouth what might be expected with the cam you have and what he's got to offer with heads... Just a thought.

Re: LE3 Heads with my cam.. Power Predictions???

Thanks again!

I just pulled one of the heads off of the motor this evening and it looks BAD! all of the exhaust valves were bent, and I had 3 bent pushrods and some jacked up lifters... This motor went through a number when it went!

Hopefully my heads are still in good enough condition for all the extensive portwork that Lloyd will need to do...
