On a 350 or 383?

383 = 3000-3500 stall

350 = 3500+ stall

Re: LE3 Head / LE3 Cam people

get a 3500-4000 rpm stall from a GOOD company. my TCI stall had to be sent back because the lockup clutch broke and took out my freshly rebuilt transmission after only 3,000 miles of use. sooo I, uhhh, wouldn't exactly recommend them but they did fix the converter... for a price. the stall converter would also stall to a little over 4,000 rpm for some reason even though it was supposed to be a 3500 rpm stall. my engine made power up to 6500 rpm than started to die off. maybe yours will last a little longer since my heads are 2 years old and lloyd has undoubtedly been improving his heads as well as bret revising cams.
maybe try a 3800 rpm stall from a good company, like vig?

edit: ^^^ listen to bret!

It's a 383. A3500 stall will only get me roughly 2400 +-200 Brake stall. I was leaning toward a 3700 stall so that my brake stall would be a little higher. Way to high you think?

I'm prolly going with a 3800-4000 stall with my LE3. Gonna see how well Vigilante works out with that (restall my current one again).. if not I might give Yank a shot.

Actually Yank reccomended me a 4000 stall but were still talking to make sure it will be optimal for my setup.

3800 stall on a 355. Fuddle custom made the tc to fit my application for a good price too! you might want to give them a try: http://www.fuddleracing.com/

Re: LE3 Head / LE3 Cam people

If you enjoy the lockup capability then I definitely recommend a hybrid (a 9" converter combined with a 12" lockup section).

It'll be about 15lb heavier than a pure 9" but will definitely live. It's easy to gut a 9" lockup clutch.

Any "racy" local tranny shop can do this. Request a billet front end and GM's latest lockup clutch material. It'll be pricey but worth it.

Re: LE3 Head / LE3 Cam people

Torque Converter Service in Nevada builds mine and they have an 11" lock up clutch that Rusty can set to stall at whatever ya want. He builds a lot of these for the turbo Buick boys and has very little trouble out of them.
They are heavy but it don't seem to effect the 8 & 9 second Buick's that run them.
He also custom builds Pro Mod converters for all you BIG HP guys.
Been using his converters for 15yrs with good results and a free tweek. I have one for this 4L60E.
