LE3 383 sound clip
LE3 383 sound clip
its what the title implies... an LE3 383 sound clip.
Some people wanted a video of my car and this is the best I can do
Its recorded off of my laptop heh. I dont have any video capturing devices or I would. The sound quality isnt bad until I rev it up a bit. at idle (which is about 950 rpm) it sounds just as it does in real life. in retrospect I should have just kept the mic inside the car and it would have picked up the sound fine.
car info is in sig.
here it is on some media upload site:
http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=LE3383
or if you want to just download the file itself:
http://x502.putfile.com/videos/22215225574.wav
I dont know why its a bunch of random numbers.
once again sorry for no video but if you want to get the full effect look at THIS picture while listening to the .wav!

Sounds Mean Pete!
To Quote him from his site...
"cam: Can't say much about this. It's custom. It's healthy."

Re: LE3 383 sound clip
My LE3 cam in a 383 doesn't lope nearly as much. The idle is also set at 950 rpms. It lopes a little bit more than a hotcam in a 350 in a previous engine. I guess the cam specs for b-body were a little different.
How much vaccuum is it pulling at idle. Mine is at 12 Hg-in according to the gauge and 13 if you calculate it using map readings.

Re: LE3 383 sound clip
I don't think the car sounds as good as it should for two reasons:
1) its not dyno tuned
2) its through a loudmouth with headers. I really need a new exhaust setup.
the car runs good, I'll find out what it does in the 1/4 tomorrow.
the idle is at 900-950 rpm. it has trouble idling when first started, as heard by me hitting the throttle quick to get the rpms back up after it started. I don't know how much vacuum it produces but it does have trouble with the brakes a little. the converter has a high enough stall speed that I'll just hold the brake with my left foot and hit the throttle slightly if I ever need a brake boost.
my cam has a tight LSA compared to others, so that will contribute to some of the lope.
I cannot divulge the specs of the cam
although I think it drives "smaller" than what they suggest. I can honestly say that I wish it was slightly bigger!
I have daily driven this car for 2 weeks now, 700+ miles. my only complaint is the gas mileage but that was expected, especially with my torque converter, and should get better with a dyno tune. hats off to lloyd and bret. they did a great job once again.
I'll try and get an in car sound clip or maybe borrow a buddies digital camera.
edit: oh, and if any of you are going to that east coast f-body thing at island drags on sunday you can hear it in person
