LE3 383 almost done

I am very close, lloyd is shipping my heads tomorrow and i am picking up my shortblock at the end of the week. I am looking to hit 450rwhp with a dyno tune.

List of mods

srp -4cc pistons
h-beam rods
eagle 3.75 crank
canton oil pan
hooker long tubes
3" true duals with bullets and x-pipe
42lb injectors
58mm TB
SLP CAI
LE3 heads and cam
ported intake
0 decked block
csr water pump
double roller chain
fully balanced
Spec stage4 clutch

I am sure there is more but i am really hoping for 450 to the ground through a m6 car with the stock 10 bolt (for a couple of months)

he said it was very possible as long as everything is done right. I would really love to see 460 or so but either way i cant wait to drive it.

Why did you go with -16cc Dished Pistons?

Well... I put down 430/415 with basically the same setup. With basically a mail order tune from Ion @ MadZ28.com... it was dyno tuned.

First Pull was 419/411. $400 later... 430/415. Ugh, what a waste.

Anyway I don't have the true duals though. So maybe you'll yield better results. Car wasn't totally run great during the dyno either. WAY to much fuel getting through the Fuel Pressure Regulator and car liked to stall and run like ***. Don't know how much it effected the numbers though.

Re: LE3 383 almost done

I have people hit the 430-440 RWHP mark and just have the Magnafglow cat back 1 3/4 headers, typical CAI, std water pump, etc. Adding 3" true duals with bullets and dumps at the rear end (if you can put up with the noise) along with some 1 7/8 headers, LS1 air lid and, elec water pump will be where the other other 15-20 HP comes from. HP is hard to com e by at this level.

Make no mistake, this is NOT an easy task or "everyone" would be making 450 RWHP. You have to dot your I's and cross your T's to get anywhere near these #'s and all of the complimenting parts aloing with good hands on tuning and EXACT rocker adjustment.

There are alot of 383's that are not even at the 400 RWHP mark and most of the ones that are over 400 RWHP are getting there with much larger cams that do not make the TQ curves that our stuff does.

The 450-460 RWHP mark is easier to reach with the stuff we are putting out now but the heads and cam will dyno only as well as the rest of the set up (and everything mentioned above) allows it to.

With -16CC Dished Pistons, .039 head gaskets, zero decked block, 58CC combustion chambers... my compression should be up around 11.3/1 or so. It also allows me to simply port out the combustion chambers on the heads later on if I feel the need to drop it to 9/1 or so if I want to supercharge it.

you dont wanna do that, it causes all kinds of issues with burn patterns and quelch area (i cant spell for crap) if you deide to boost it later change the pistons if you can. ask around about that issue the smarter guys can give you all the details.

Re: LE3 383 almost done

I've got a very similar combo on a Caprice. It dynoed 418 rwhp through an unlocked loose converter (stalls at about 4500 rpms), 8.5" rear with 4.56 gears and a full exhaust on drag radials. 430-440 rwhp should not be a problem on an f-body with a T56 and stock rear. 450 rwhp would be more difficult to reach with a stock intake manifold.
