LE2, LE3 what's difference

Ok, I am learning all over again, what is the difference in the LE2, LE3, and the stock heads on a LT1. In old days it was the plug angle, value size, chamber size. Now whats the difference.....
Thanks Gene

Re: LE2, LE3 what's difference

LE2 and LE3 are just heads packages put together by Lloyd Elliot (LE) using your stock LT1 heads. Out of the three stock is the worst and LE3 is the best with LE1 and LE2 inbetween. Each package is ported differently depending on your application and of course the quality of parts will be different as well. By parts I mean springs, valves, retainers, locks, etc. HTH

Re: LE2, LE3 what's difference

LE1 = stock valves, smallest head port
LE2 = 2.00 / 1.56 valves, larger port, better springs
LE3 = 2.055 / 1.60 valves, new valve seats, largest port, same springs as LE2

That's just the heads, the cams increase in size as you go up, so the LE1 is the smallest, LE3 is the largest. The LE1, LE1.5, LE2 are all designed for stock bottom end short blocks, LE3 and LE4 are made for 355 and 383 bottom ends.

it's just a cam for strokers, kinda like a LE3 cam for a 355.... I had to call it something.

The package is (assembled) heads + cam, but you can buy them seperately if you want to.
There's no discount either way.

Ok that makes more sense, but why can't you put LE3 heads on a stock block, it's not that much difference in power.

You can put them on, but they are set up for something that revs higher and moves more air than a 350. (355, 383)

Re: LE2, LE3 what's difference

The LE3 heads have larger valves, they will work but you really don't need them. The LE3 cam wants a 3500+ stall and 6800-7000rpm shift points so that's what really limits that package on a stock bottom end.

Also with the larger valves you will have a tighter piston to valve clearance, so you would have to be super **** with measuring the piston to valve clearance.
