LE2/GM847 Cam Finally Running!!
Well, I got the car running today with a help of a fellow LT1 owner. All I have to say is open headers and this head/cam combo puts a HUGE smile on my face! I cant believe how tough/loud it is. I defiantly need to get the rest of my exhaust hooked up. I took a video, but unfortunantly I am in the middle of the moving process and I cant find my usb cable for my digicamcorder. I will try and find one tomorrow and get a video up.
The car stays at 60psi oil pressure on idle, bearly goes past 160 degrees and no SES lights. The same friend was able to scan my car using his scanner that costs like 3k and tell me what my ABS INOP light was. It was caused due to my rear speedo sensor.
So other than that small problem the car is running like a champ!

Hope your using the waterpump housing you got. Is it working good for you?

Actually it was something so stupid it almost made me cry... I went to tripple check the 10 amp ignition fuse... It was good, however the terminal that it plugged into was pushed down really far so the ignition fuse was not coming in contact with the terminal block portion.
I hooked the alarm back up for the time being.
And yes, I am defiantly using the new housing! Thanks a lot!
This car puts such a grin on my face... If I could only afford the insurance.
LOL.

Re: LE2/GM847 Cam Finally Running!!
Exactly i was looking at getting a 2000z28 but i decided to call geico(easy quote) to see what full coverage would run me. They wanted 4100 dollars every 6 months!!! Needless to say im building up a new lt1 and ill continue to pay 600 a year on liability. Btw im 19 and have an exhibition of speed ticket, dont ever get one insurance puts it in the same catagory as a dwi, felony ect...
Re: LE2/GM847 Cam Finally Running!!
congrats on the motor!
insurance companies are such a rip off sometimes. i am 25, have a perfect driving record (knock on wood) and still pay like $750 every six months. before i was 25, i was paying over $1k every six months. ive got an '01 pickup that i only pay $400 every six months. whats the deal? the truck is worth more than the car with the same exact coverages...?? what the crap?

Re: LE2/GM847 Cam Finally Running!!
Actually I was able to get a decent price quote for my car.. They want 272 each month for my car liability, and the wifes car on full coverage. So I guess its a pretty decent deal. I also have SR22 due to an unfortunante accident that wasnt ruled in my favor.
Anyhow, I tried to take the car out tonight for its first test run... It almost immediatly overheated like a block away from my house... Is this even possible???
I burped the coolant system before driving the car. I even had a friend help to make sure I did it right. I have an electric water pump, the black wire is hot and the blue wire is ground. I have a 160 Thermostat and I put in 3.8 gallons of coolant/water mix. I just purchased new 50/50 mix.
Oil pressure is excellent the Spec stage 4 even not broken in is really streetable and I would defiantly recommend it. The only other weird problem is my powersteering doesnt work. Maybe I just need to fill my fluid resevior??
Any help with getting these little bugs worked out would be appreciated.
Also, when I came home today and got on the gas the coolant sensor dropped from 210-170ish almost immediatly.. Do you think the coolant sensor to the gauge is bad? It just had me really worrying. I also checked the engine bay and the coolant wasnt boiling or anything of that sort, however the engine bay was defiantly really hot.
Thanks.
Kendall

Did you use new sensors with the rebuild? Are they GM? I bought new, it was pricey but I DID NOT want any headaches. I lost my oil pressure sensor and was in a rush and bought an auto zone brand sensor. It said I had 20 psi and it never moved. My auto meter said 65 psi so I went and bought another GM sensor and all was normal again. It's possible the sensor is just bad. Sometimes it takes multiple bleedings to purge all air from the system. Can you verify the electric waterpump is on and running when the car is on?

Re: LE2/GM847 Cam Finally Running!!
I am also 19 with a perfect record and multiple cars (My multi-car discount is like $6 a year....Whoohoo!!!
). If i could pay off my busted 96 Formula then my insurance would be less than half of what i am paying now. Oh the things i do for my car.....

Re: LE2/GM847 Cam Finally Running!!
Married 37 with one accident on my record, multiple car discount and I pay about 260 every 6 months for full coverage with a 500$ deductable on my 97 WS-6.
Yeah the blue wire is the hot wire, I have wired one myself.
