LE2 6500 RPM concerns....

Thinking about the LE2 combo, how big a toll will running a 2 bolt main 70K mile LT1 up to 6500 RPM take. According to Lloyd the LE1 wont affect the short block much but the LE2 will start taking its toll.
Im leaning towards the LE1 to ensure that the engine lasts plus I dont mind giving up a few ponies.
Thanks

Whatever Lloyd says... goes. haha. Thats the way I built my motor as far as power was concerned. Told him what I wanted to do, who was building it (Putting it together), what I wanted to do with it... let him make all the decisions as far as cam/heads/intake, etc...

In the interest of longevity I would stick with the LE1. Actually I plan to do the LE2 heads with the LE1 cam in the spring because I kind of have the same fear as you about spinning my stock bottom end LT1 to 6500 RPM.

Buy the better heads now..keep rev limiter at 6200..leave a bit of power on the table and sleep better for now. And if you do up engine later you won't have to sell the Le1s and lose money down the road.I am likely going with LE2 and have comp 305 and 1.6 comp pro mags also. I think will keep rev limiter at 6200.

You can make big power and great ETs without spinning the heck out of the motor. I shift mine at 6400 at the track

I love my LE2 package. A little worried about shifting at 6500-6800 but should get good times out of the car.

I would stick with the LE1 with the stock shortblock. That cam makes real good power. Later Clint
