LE1 heads with cc503

I want to do a 224/230 cam on a 110 LSA. I just recently picked up a spare set of heads i plan on swapping in during the install, and im debating porting them while im at it. does anyone know what kind of power i would gain with the ported heads? the cam only should make in the ballpark of 340/340 at the rear wheels. Id like to be able to run a low 12 pretty easily when this is said and done. does anyone have this or a similar setup?

I put down 330rwhp on a mustang dyno with just the cc503 and stock heads which is around 350-360 on a dynojet. I also have 11.8:1 compression which helped some. You should be able to get real close to 400rwhp with LE1 heads and the cc503.

I'm thinking more like 360 to 370rwhp if using all the mods that Lloyd recommends. Do you run a cut-out too, for the track? Just my opinion though, hopefully it will be more.

I didn't have the heads milled very much at all but I got the Mahle Powerpack pistons which raised it some.

I saw a guy with a CC306 and LE1's hit the 400hp mark, but he had to run it dangerously lean to do it. I would figure in the 375 range.

chances are my car will never see the dyno as i plan to tune it myself. i guess i should be asking what kind of trap speed to expect instead. 375 rwhp would be enough to make me happy.

My gm846 works pretty well with the le1's. power comes in very strong from about 2500 on up. I'm not going to report my rwhp results with my 355 because i believe they were inflated. but i made peak power at 6400rpms.

Fine, have it your way, 422rwhp through an auto was on a dynojet dyno. I really dont see how thats even remotely possible, i was just using the dyno to line out a few things in my tune, and to help select my shift points anyway. but, now i need a new trans, which means i'll probably need a new stall and on and on so i guess the car will be down awhile.

yeah right, thats BS!!! Im just teasing. dyno's are only good for back to back testing anyways. they will all ready a bit different from each other, and same car, same dyno different day will have slightly diff. readings too.

what kind of trap speeds were you hitting? and what are the specs of the 846 cam? my cam is too small for my 383, and it peaks at 6000rpm. plus my heads arent the greatest since I ported them, but prolly not too far behind the LE1's.

I told you the #'s were inflated, and not worth reporting. i dont have any track numbers yet since the trans is starting to go and tuition destroyed my mod budget, and i need to suck this thing along till i can get another trans ready, which may end up being a manual. i'll post times when i get em but dont look for it to be this season, just too much crap going right now.

The 846 is a 222/230 cam with a 112 lsa, crane specs a 107 intake center line but i installed mine on a 110. With 1.6 rockers you get .542" intake and .563" exahust. I run 7/16 arp studs, comp hi-tech stainless rockers, and forged trickflow 7.1" pushrods, with ls7 lifters. So far it runs without a hitch up to where i shift it which is about 6700rpms.

Most people think of the 846 as an "old school" cam but up next to the 503 in terms of lift and duration its no slouch, the advertised duration looks bigger but i'm pretty sure crane measures advertised at .004" instead of .006" like comp, which could account for some of that extra advertised duration.

Really it drives just like stock, i even ran it on the stock stall before the rebuild, its really really tame. its a little soft below 2500 but after that dont blink or you'll miss the trip into the red. if i had a 383 i think i'd have to move on down the page for cam selection though, i'd be looking in the mid 230s or so, maybe just 230 if its done right.
