le1 with a 355?

would this be a good combo? I dont want to make insane numbers, so I'm not too worried about stroking it. Maybe in the 410-420 hp range (at flywheel) and a low 12 sec 1/4?

I just spun a bearing, so I am considering rebuild options.

You can easily make those numbers with the LE1 package in a 355. Once my combo gets all the bugs worked out and broken in I will head to the dyno. Hopefully I will be around 370 rwhp after it's all said and done.

Re: le1 with a 355?

I just spent about $1800 and i already had the rockers, lifters, and timing set.

LE1 package - $1200
Larger valves for the heads - $200
gaskets - $130
30# injectors - $150
52mm tb - $150

Dont forget all the other little things like oil and coolant and whatnot.

You might want to go LE1.5 then, a LE1 head and LE2 cam. Or just step up to the LE2 package.

Well I would like to know the price for a normal 350 block..... Machine work, all the new parts (pistons, rods, bearings, blah blah)

I could use my old crank as long as I am not going forged, right?

Re: le1 with a 355?

For a 355 the stock crank will work awesome.

I would use some Eagle or Scat I beams $230-$250 and some Mahle or SRP pistons and Rings $560, gotta find a core first and machine work is usually around $700 bucks and then assembly.

Could I hit 11's with this setup? I would also have pacesetter LT's, electric WP, SLP CAI, and probably a dyno tune.

400rwhp and 3500lbs has the power for 11's, just need the traction.

Re: le1 with a 355?

be super careful putting it together and do everything by the book or you'll spin another bearing after the rebuild.
LE1 heads kick ***. you'll like em.

Well I would probably have a shop put it together. I have decided to reuse my crank and rods, so I will need some good budget pistons. I dont care about forged, I will not be running nitrous (in the slight possibility I do, it would be something small like a 75 shot). What are some decent pistons?

Re: le1 with a 355?

I have a question. What would be the gain difference of going with a 355 over just rebuilding the engine to 350 and putting the LE2 on it?

Re: le1 with a 355?

From a 350 to a 355 you will not see any performance increase. You will only see an increase in hp/torque if you go to a 383. Usually people go to a 355 becuase its easier to get pistons etc for a .030 over bore. The power is in the heads cam etc. Click on my link below. Go under specificatons. That's what my motor consists of. I am hoping for a 400rwhp+ car.
