LE package cost

Im just wondering if anyone here could give me an idea of how much the total cost would be for an LE package and all supporting mods. Specifically LE1, possibly with a LE1.5 cam or LE2 cam. (im aware the package itself would be $1200 or a little more).

current mods are in the sig, I only have headers really. Im trying to compare this to just doing a cam swap. TIA

This thread is similar to what you are looking for.. it should give you an idea of what you are up against supporting mod wise. http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=502155

I believe you would want to keep the 1.6's as you'll want more lift to take advantage of the heads. You could probably run 1.5's for a while until you could afford 1.6's.

To get the full benefit of the cam, you will want to eventually work your way into a set of 1.6s.

You're not going to be able to run the stock rockers regardless...the lift is too high for a stamped/slotted rocker. I guess it could be made to work but I wouldn't recommend it.

And there's no real price difference between 1.5 roller rockers and 1.6 roller rocker, so you might as well go ahead and step up to the right parts up front.

You beat me to it. I'm almost positive you cannot run a cam with any decent lift and use the factory rockers. And if I were you and trying to save a little money while doing the H/C package, I'd go with the LE1 heads and the LE2 cam. It will save you a little, but there are alot of other things your going to need to do it right and it's not cheap. But you will be one happy camper when your finished.

If you can't afford the whole package then you maybe better off getting a cam from Brett then, rockers, springs etc.. and you could always add the heads from Lloyd later when you can afford it. Lloyd has done plenty of work for me, has another set of heads that he just finished up and he is a first class head porter. My car only had cam, rockers, stock heads, headers, stall etc.. a few years back and when he ported my stock heads I went from 12.00's@113mph to 11.60's@117mph with the same cam, valves, gears converter, weight etc.. So goodluck. Later

I think this is the first time I have read about before and after results using a set of Lloyds heads with all other parts being the same. I realize that DA plays a factor also, but in general that's a very nice increase HP. Did the heads have stock valves or larger ones? And if you don't mind, what cam were you running back then. And lastly, I would just like to say I have always been impressed with the results (ETs) that you have run.

The valves were the same stock valves that all Lt1's come with from the factory but Lloyd does some killer valve jobs that help them flow better. The cam was one of the first LE1's by Joe Overton 226@50 or so. Thanks for the compliments. What alot of people don't understand about making cars quicker is you have to make the car work well and not by just throwing a ton of money at them. I have been racing for along time on a budget and don't listen to all this hype about everything. You have test parts and see what works and what doesn't. Later Clint

We must have bought parts from Lloyd at about the same time. The 226 is what I have on the exhaust side on my baby Joe O. cam, that I got thru Lloyd.

yea thats what i was thinking. basically im trying to figure out what i can afford here. Ive been planning a CC503 swap with stock heads for a while, but im debating if i shouldnt do heads while im at it. I might pick up an extra job this summer to have some more fun

my other concern is putting too much stress on my motor. Ill have close to 100k miles by the time i do it, however its extremely well maintained and definitely runs strong.
