Last minute tips, advice, etc before starting new motor...

I plan on starting the new stroker up in the next couple days and I was wondering if you guys could give me a couple last minute double checks, tips, advice, things to make sure of etc....before we finally fire it up.

For example in hindsight has there been anything you have forgotten, should have done, etc when firing a motor for the first time?

Make sure the oil pressure comes up before you start it. (Hopefully you primed it before this stage) I just made sure I had oil pressure before I started it.

I also made sure I got fuel pressure up to the fuel rails before I started it.

Other than that turn the key and pray that you got everything tight.

I tend to do the sign of the cross in front of the car, then I give alittle nod to the auto gods for safe measure.

BTW, Lemme know when you plan on firing that beast up.

Yeah, you need to have Bret crack one of those Molson's over the rear fender like they do w/ champagne bottles for a ships maiden voyage

Make a check list and make sure you remembered to fill all the fluids. Also, fill up the big radiator hose w/ antifreeze when you're adding the antifreeze. I forgot about this once and the antifreeze wasn't circulating when I started it up so the temp gauge shot up.

Good luck Matt, wish I could be there to witness it but I have a bachelor party in Philly to go to this weekend.

Safety first....some sort of water outlet? Have a waterhose ready. Be ready for anything!

Make sure the throttle cable isn't sticking, don't want to see how long that new 383 will redline.

Now breathe in, then breathe out, now breathe in, and then breathe out. Common do it. Now turn the key and pray to the gods your car likes your new engine and they start getting along!
