my engine is going together fine but I am wondering about t-stat,waterpump and oil pan.Should I have machine shop put in tstat and pump and should oil pan be new or is a used stock pan ok? i am trying to make this swap as smooth as possible so assuming bottom removal using 2-post above ground lift please feel free to offer any advice.

What does the new engine consist of... stock displacement, 355 or 383 will generally be OK with your stock/used oil pan. A 396 would require a deeper pan. Always a good idea to swap the pan before you put the engine in the car.

Most people opt for athe Hypertech 160* t'stat. See if your engine builder feels that will be consistant with the tune he envisions.

Are you asking if you should use an electric or mechanical water pump?

mild 355,stock pump and manifolds

really mild stuff here ,i am really asking for tips on making swap smother.like i just thought about wire looms or the lack there of on reman engine.see i would like to have 2 virtually identicle engines in garage at once so swap would seem as seamless as possible.needs to happen in 3 days.we have lift, lots of tools (if you can think of an odd tool that would help please chime in) we got compressed air and HEAT.THERE WILL BE 1-3 helpers at most times-my tab so far is 3k in motor and 500 in labor.wish me luck
