Largest tire size for 17x9.5

Just wondering what is the largest tire I can get for a 17x9.5 rim front and back. Simple question. Looking at some Enkei wheels and pondering tire size considering rubbing issue and speedo recaliberation. Tell me what you think. Btw, recaliberation isn't out of the question.

The largest size most people recomend is 285's in the front and 315's in the rear. If you do 315's in the front I think you will have clearance issues.

According to the tire engineers that set the minimum and maximum recommended rim width for their tires, 285/40-17 would represent the largest avaialbel size recommended for a 9.5" wide rim. You can put a 315/35-17 on it, but that is not recommended by any manufacturer that I am aware or.

275/40 and 315/35 are both = the stock tire diameter, so no speedo problems. 285/40 will cause the speedo to read lower than actual speed by 1.3%, or less than 1mph at 60mph.

Whether the tires rub will depend on whether you have the correct offset/backspace on the wheels.

i know huh! my buddy had 315's on his 17x9's and they didnt look NEAR as beefy as mine with my 17x11 wheels! its like they were sooo squeezed in cause of the smaller rim that they didnt stick out as much
