Larger Throttle body

My car is in the shop having some work done.

Let me ask you guys?

Is an airfoil worth the money?

Also, how about a bigger throttle body?

Will these two mods do anything for me in the terms of performance?

This is a bang for the buck question.

Thanks

Re: Larger Throttle body

A bigger TB on a stock bottom end or stock heads with no more flow is a waste of money.

I have heard that a 52mm or 54mm can improve throttle responce, but the stock 48mm is good enough to get you well into the 12's. I actually think it's alot better than that even.

Re: Larger Throttle body

you ll gain more hp from a catback and both are around the same money.IMO best bang for the buck is ordering a 4 ft piece of 3 inch pipe from summit, weld on some flanges and you got yourself an offroad pipe.

Re: Larger Throttle body

I think the reason most people see a preformance gain or at least a low RPM preformance gain with a bigger TB is that it is new and shaft is sealing like it was intended. If you are high mialage a new TB may be a help if you are having idle problems and whatnot. Otherwise stick to stock unless your motor is kicking 500 hp or more. IF you must do a bigger throttle body think about haveing the stock one bored. All the fitting and linkage all fit plus it is a nice stelth conversion and emmissions check friendly. Airfoil IMO total waste of money as most tend to block or restrict idle circut air as the part they are covering up is where the engine gets idle air.
Just my 2 pennies

Re: Larger Throttle body

Airfoil isn't to bad, think they have a dyno graph of an LT1 with one vs. stock over at ws6.com....

Just don't spend the $40 that sites want for it, try ebay...
