I know, I have Comp 987's, thought I had that posted in the first post but I left it out on accident.

Tristin
My car idled fine with the hotcam and my throttlebody messed up as well. I didn't have a problem until I put in the LE2. I have heard that the bleed hole in the bbk throttle bodies is too small to support idle on a large cam. You might want to remove the tb and drill out the hole a couple of sizes. it might help.
Good luck with whatever you do.

Need to know the installed height of the springs to know if 987's are ok. Coil bind height is 1.15. Your lift of the cam is .576 with 1.6's. 1.15 + .576 = 1.726. If your installed height is lower than 1.73, you got problems. Even still, I think your cam is the problem. Try backing down to 1.5:1 on the rockers. I have a feeling your vac level will increase and things will smooth out.

I had my machinest install them. I doubt he would install them at a lower height. I don't have any 1.5's around that I can try otherwise I would.

OK, WTF. I just drilled out my TB IAC bypass to 5/16, finally idles decently at 950-1000 with the throttle plates closed, IAC is STILL at 160?! It started low around like 60-70, I go around to the drivers door to look in to check the oil pressure and see what the tach says, and when I come back, the IAC is wide open again, but the idle speed didn't change one bit. WTF is going on?

Then after about 2 minutes of running semi-decently, somthing goes to **** and it starts stumbling all over itself again.

I'm lost. I'm about ready to park the SOB until I feel like messing with it again.

Datamaster datalog from today.

ok, new occurance, I think I found part of my problem. This time, I unplugged the MAF. Idle's a little bit higher at about 1050-1075, but now I'm getting 9-10" of vacuum, and the IAC is down around 30. I realize now I probably should have left the bypass alone or at 1/4 but too late now. Also my injector PW is a little higher at 6 ms now instead of about 4 where it was earlier. ???

Speed density datalog.

You can test the MAF if you have a multimeter that shows frequency in Hz. check the yellow wire while you snap the throttle. The responce should be 7kHz minimum. If not clean it and test it again. If it's still lower than 7Kz, replace it.

well, we have a multimeter, just doesn't show Hz, so SOL on that. I might be able to get my hands on one tomorrow though.

Re: large cam on stock cubes, got some problems

ok, so it would appear that a combination of the MAF being bad and IAC bypass passage not being there were the culprits. I drilled out the IAC bypass and disconnected the MAF to run it in speed density and the difference is night and day. The IAC actually works at intersections now, no stumbling and dieing. No coughing and sputtering. I guess tomorrow I'll be calling around to find a MAF and find out why my right O2 isn't working.
