KOOKS Stainless Steel Longtubes!!!

Please, everyone - support this poll over on LS1tech. These would be some kickass headers. They need 25 orders to start making these and my Hooker longtubes are rusting . . .

We need some more people to support this thing. MorePerformance isn't a member of this forum (why, I don't know - there are a lot more LT1 guys on this forum than on LS1tech). C'mon and support these guys, you know these will be some awesome headers.

Re: KOOKS Stainless Steel Longtubes!!!

What would be so good about this? Will they add that much more power? What about clearance though? 1 3/4 Primaries is about 1/8 smaller then these new ones... that much difference? But then again... 1 5/8 primaries are about 1/8 smaller then 1 3/4 primaries and thats a big power difference... so what are we looking at here?

Tri-Y headers are known to make both more Hp and Tq than a standard collector header. Look at the LS1 guys using QTP's - they gain about 15 more rwhp over the standard Hooker longtubes.

Re: KOOKS Stainless Steel Longtubes!!!

The header design that Kook's has in mind is going to be a Tri-Y style?

If yes to the above question I want to be the first in line.

Also, will there be a merge collector option? Maybe a collector size option also.............. 2 1/2", 3". that would be sweet!

How about the Y-Pipe, will Kook's make one to match the headers?

Re: KOOKS Stainless Steel Longtubes!!!

something to add or ask is if its going to be a stepped primary when it comes right off the head flange, that will give better bolt access (like some of the bigger Mustang headers)
some of the Mustang headers go 1 5/8 for about 1.5inches right off the flange then jump to 1 3/4" for the rest of the primary or 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" etc.
gives alot of extra clearance for bolts

really wish i could afford to get in on it, SS is the way to go!

Kooks makes some badass stuff. Be prepared to pay $700-$800 for the headers though if I remember right.

Re: KOOKS Stainless Steel Longtubes!!!

um, I would get on this IF I COULD.......700-800 for headers is steep. I'm not saying they're not worth it, but I sure as $hit can't pay that when I can get jet hot lts for 400. BTW, is there a definitive source for header advice yet? I'm an LT1 and would like to know what headers would work best with my ongoing and future setup.

Search button will bring you back more than you could ever want to know about headers.

Jet Hot's are going to run you $500 though. That's GP price.

Don't quote me on that price of $700-$800 for Kooks, but that's typically what their prices go for. I don't see this being any different.

Re: KOOKS Stainless Steel Longtubes!!!

Kooks might be good stuff, but I've watched an experienced shop have to go through way more work than was necessary to install a set of their LT's on a C5 Z06. By comparison, my Jet Hots went on my Camaro with little fuss.

The tri-Y might be worth it though.
