Kooks 1-3/4" to 1-7/8" vs Headman 1-7/8" installation ???

I am going to be purchasing a set of larger headers for my combo. I have a set of Hooker LT's, but the flange is simply way to small. I know the Kooks are larger(I called along with a bud) and I would imagine the Headman headers would suffice.

What I am curious about is steering knucke/arm with either...as in, will it still fit/work or do I custom fab something?

What about my heater box. Do I notch it some or remove it?

The Kooks are slip fit headers which means I modify them for my Mufflex y-pipe or a simply just buy the correct y-pipe. Are the Headman headers the same?

Any thoughts and am I missing anything?

Since when did headman come out with a LT header for the LT1?

There is no comparison to any Headman vs. a Kooks. The Kooks are well worth the cash. Plus they are designed to work around whats there where the headmans do not.

I ordered a set of Kooks...but I could have bought a set of Headman's for 1/2 the cost, both new. I just had a gut feeling the Kooks are better engineered.

i had the 1-7/8 Hedman Husslers on my old 95 firebird. you need to eliminate the heater box and run an aftermarket manual steering rack unless you are willing to modify the header primaries to fit around the shaft on a stock steering rack setup. also some guys have said they were able to cut out and patch a section of the heater box to make it fit with the Hedmans. either way, you are better off with the Kooks, they just werent out when i did my combo and i couldnt afford a custom header

other than those issues, i thought the Hedmans fit and finish was much better than the Hooker super comps i have used on mine and other cars. they were even easier to install despite the larger and longer primaries. the steering rack and heater box didnt matter since i had made those changes anyways. plug access was a REAL bitch on a couple plugs though
