Whenever I start the car when it's cold and begin to drive, there is a significant amount of knock in the motor. Anyone know what causes this and how to make it go away?? Thanks in advance.

 

how long ago since you changed the oil? also, whats the oil pressure at? it may be piston slap. a thicker oil may help it out if its not the timing

 

The oil was changed yesterday, and the pressure is fine. It has 10W-30 in it right now, but my brother had the car before I got it and it's done this ever since I can remember. It only knocks until it reaches running temperature then it sounds fine.

 

mine has done it since I bought it also, and my engine was fresh when i bought the car. It's way worse in the winter also. I have been told it's piston slap also, i just warm mine up very well always, I would not want to put a load on it sounding like that.
