knocking after swap!!!!!

my 96 obd1 lt1 is knocking out of the passengar side valve cover. im thinking its coming from a lifter.

what should i check to diagnose it better? the ticking sound is coming at higher rpms, and its very evident in fourth gear.

any thoughts?

Re: knocking after swap!!!!!

What kind of rockers are you using? They could be hitting the valve cover or may just be loose. Loose rockers will be loud.

Re: knocking after swap!!!!!

Check your valve cover. When I installed my LE2 setup, I had the rockers hit the valve covers, so I had to grind a little. But mine were not stock covers either, so just check.

Re: knocking after swap!!!!!

well first off, thanks guys.

ive had the engine in for a while maybe 6 months, and now is when i notice the ticking noise worsening. its a stock lt1...heads and all are stock.

i havent checked under the valve covers yet, and im not sure what to look for. im sure ill see one of them out of place or a bit elevated.

other than that...whats teh worst case scenario?

Loose rocker / collapsed lifter. Pull valve cover, check all rockers.
