Knock sensor in 95 z28 won't budge!

Hi guys,

In trying to remove my knock sensor in my 95 lt1, the knock sensor separated and now I can't loosen it. The knock sensor is a two piece unit crimped together and the unit is now just spinning. Has anyone had this happen before? If so, how have you gotten the unit out of the block? There isn't much room to get. Pipe wrench in there and al efforts at recrimping the unit with a center punch and hammer have failed. Is there another tool I should try? I have to grip the units outside which is circular to loosen it enough so I can get it out. Thanks in advance!

Spray it down with penetrating oil and see if a large pair of vice grips can get a bite. You can also try wrapping the round part with rubber to give you more grip. I cut up an old tire inner tube once and used spray adhesive to make it all stick together.

It is tight enough on the f-bodies so I'm not so sure how tight it would be on a Jaguar, but you should be able to get some vice grips in there.

Once you get it out don't overtighten the new one.

ha, the engine/trans is chevy, the jag is what the motor/trans is powering! the knock sensor has been in there since the 90s, I'm guessing it's never been replaced. the knock sensors have contact with coolant (they act as a plug?) so I think that's what its sooo hard to remove. I'll try, and see what happens.
