knock sensor
knock sensor
Getting a little vibration at idle when cold. I'm thinking it might be false knock because the header I built for the driver side turbo has a leak. When the car warms up you don't hear the leak as much. I was thinking if I disconnect the knock sensor wire it would eliminate possibility of false knock but im not sure. Can anyone give me some insight on this or any other possible causes.. Btw the car is without the trans and is kinda titled back because the fronts still on jack stands..
Re: knock sensor
If you pull the wire off the knock sensor, the PCM will default to a predetermined retard calculation, based on rpm and engine load. You will get knock retard ranging up to 15-degrees. That's not the way to test for false knock.
Have you monitored the PCM for knock retard?

Re: knock sensor
I don't have a scanner or access to one. So if that's the case basically even a bad ks would set off false knock correct? When I removed the ks I tried using a wrench but it would just spin around inside. Is that normal? I might have broken it during removal.
