Kmember install
Kmember install
How hard of a job is this to do... say on a scale of 1 to 10, w/ 10 being the hardest =). What do you need to do? I'm assuming put the car up somewhat high, keep the motor suspended w/ a engine Lift then drop the stock Kmember?? But all in all I guess I want to know what I'm getting into. I've pulled and re installed my 383 Stroker by myself so, I would hope this wouldn't be that hard
Thanks,
Jason

Jason....you are ALIVE!! I see you are keeping your car then; Sam said you were considering saying goodbye to it. Get that oil pan leak fixed??
Of course, I have no input on this swap, but I'm POSITIVE you can do it. From being under my car enough, it really doesn't look that hard. I'm sure the K-member comes with instructions.
Which one are you considering?? The BMR unit sure looks nice.

haha hey Joe, yeah I think I got the oil leak fixed, though it's been so darn cold I don't feel like checking. But regardless if it is leaking it's so little it doesn't matter.
I was going to sell the car, but decided to keep it. I've got a TON of stuff thats currently in the works. I really want to get my 8 second Pass this year. So I've got the car scheduled to go into the shop for a 10 point cage, Race Seats, BMR Xtreme dute torque Arm to be installed. Then I'm going to install a BMR Xtreme Sway bar as soon as I get it back along with Hal shocks up front and am debating on doing the BMR K member set up as well. I've got 6k or so to throw at the car, so might as well finish it up. Then if I decide I want to sell it, atleast it will be a finished product with time slips to back it up
Pretty much only thing preventing me from droping the car off to get the cage put in, is I don't feel like getting into this cold weather to pull the interior out. lol. I really want to make sure I get my car done by the May event in IN. Speakin of, u giong???

Jason

The K-Member isn't that hard. It Really cleans up the underneith and makes things easy to get to from below.
6 bolts hold the actual k-member in place. Hardest part is getting the old rusted bolts loose for the suspension stuff. If you have replaced any of those it should be a snap.
The BMR unit looks nice unless you have a Canton oil pan. Wit the integrated motor mount/bracket I wonder how you would shim the motor mounts to keep the pan from contacting the stearing rack.
I have the PA Kmember and it was not exactly a plug and play unit. I had to pay big bucks to have the alignment done since the suspension holes were not accurate in the k-member.

I do have a Canton Oil Pan. So I can't use both the BMR and Canton at the same time w/o having something modified?
Also if I do go with the BMR Kmember, would the Install go better if I changed the upper and lower A arms at the same time?
Also what are these light weight breaks they talk about. I haven't seen anybody sell them. But from the sound of it, looks like you can save a lot of weight just with those.
Thanks,
Jason

Jason, I haven't heard of the event in Indiana. Actually, COFBA is having a track day in May at Norwalk, the day before the CZ28 Cedar Point trip (gonna end up being a weekend thing.....we will soon be ready to get the details worked out to allow some CZ28 members to join in on the fun too). Since I'm still a poor jobless bastard, taking racing trips is not exactly something I can do.
Hell, for the first year since I've owned the car, it really won't be getting anything in terms of mods.
