kind of at a crossroad...

alright so here's the deal...

my car has 112k miles on it right now, i daily drive it, and so far it's been real good to me. i've had the car for about 2 months and put almost 6k on it (hey, it's a new car to me and i'm excited ). my question lies here:

i have done quite a bit of searching, i've got the LM right now, buying a used slp intake from a local guy who sold his lt1. that's where i stand. i'll have a decent bit of money, and i was looking at the speed pro rebuild kit......

as well as some other mods like headers, tune, hotcam, etc.

it's a combiniation of not being able to decide what i wanna do, and what SHOULD i do. it's not that i dont have faith in the motor, my friend who's owned his LT1 for about 30k miles saw mine the day i got it and was just stunned with how clean it looks. runs strong and i have absolutely no complaints at this juncture. so what would you do? put some money into a few mods and have faith in the LT1, or bite on the rebuild. i'd like to do the rebuild as it gives me piece of mind (i have had some terrible luck with my cars in the past ), but it's always fun to go faster (but breaking things fast isn't fun either). alright i'm done rambling, i hope i at least had somewhat of a coherant thought in there. thanks for the input!

Re: kind of at a crossroad...

It all matters how the car feels. People have said how they needed a build after 50k and some are still going strong after 150k. A rebuild would be the safe way to go if you fear that something really big is going to happen soon. But if it seems strong and running fine then I would do a couple of mods. You don't have to spend all of your money. You could do a couple of mods then save the rest just in case something happens.

i have a feeling that's what is gonna happen. i'll have my mechanic look over the motor and tell me if he sees anything of heightened importance and to keep an eye on. then i'll just do headers and a tune. and save save save

Yea that is a good plan. Oh and I feel you on the being scared thing. This is my 3rd car (I am 18) and it is sitting in the driveway on a couple jacks.

Definately enjoy it the way it is for now..maybe a little mods here or there... As I broke stuff I modded stuff...as I modded, I broke more stuff.. Now i have a fresh engine, cam, blah blah blah...except it took me almost a year of not driving it at all to get this far. Its still not running (replacing broke valvesprings).

thanks again for the insight! ... yea i went through the "car down forever" mod, it sucks. if something happens, it happens, but i'd rather it happen and have some money to have it be down for even less time than if i had nothing...
