Killed 2 coils

Ok the whole story shortened.

1.) Started car after cam install, Ran 20 min.
2.) started car after changing oil. Ran 5 min.
3.) Started car- 2 min. wont rev past 1k
4.) Car wont start, cranks but no start. i go buy an opti
5.) reprogram, no start
6.) replace accell coil with stock one. starts, runs, drive it around the block. doesnt seem like it has as much power as it should. but runs fairly smooth. my buttometer isnt all that
7.) start car, run it a while, still gives revs
8.) car wont start, cranks but wont start

I am guessing it is the coil again and I am going to replace it this weekend but why would it kill 2 coils? What else is wrong?

I wonder if it could be your ICM that is going bad? Or maybe the harness for the ICM or Opti not plugged in good or something? Have you checked that yet?

What is the ICM? I checked to make sure my connections to the coil and opti and good and tight. I even did the spacers between the coil bracket thing like on shoebox's site with the washers. Grrr. Well I am gonna grab a coil from autozone and see what happens. Hopefully it doesnt kill that one

Quick question for ya..

Do you have an after market Ignition box like and MSD box or Crane?

When My MSD box went bad it killed 2 coils. I finally disconnect the MSD box on the 3rd coil and it ran fine for a week, then I reconnect the MSD box to see if it was really bad or if it was just 2 worn or cheap coils and the MSD box killed my 3rd coil right there in less than 10 seconds. So I junked the MSD box and went back to stock set up again and I am on my 4th coil that has been in the car for over 2 months and about 5,000 miles and no problems at all.

Hope that helps,
Claude

Unfortunately I am still running the stock setup. No MSD or anything. A faulting opti couldnt do this could it? It has to be something electrical.
