Keyless entry issue

I have a 95 z28. When I bought the car the keyless entry didn't work so I figured the remote was fried. I was bored today and decided to try to reprogram the keyless entry with the remote I had. I jumped pin 8 to 4 and the door locks locked then unlocked. Then I pressed a button on the remote and it again locked itself then unlocked. I disconnected my jumper wire and tried it out and it won't work. I did it 3 times and it still won't work. It seems that it is getting the signal from the remote when I try to program it but it won't actually lock or unlock after being programmed. Is there a special step i'm not doing? I did the procedure listed on shoebox's site and it's not working. Any ideas?

Re: Keyless entry issue

May be a bad receiver. Make sure the buttons are clean on the inside of the remote, too. Mine pretty much works when it wants to anymore.

Re: Keyless entry issue

I already tried to clean it as best I could. I even replaced the batteries. It's wierd cause the reciever seems to be getting the signal from the remote cause when I'm programming the remote in and I press a button on the remote, the car locks and unlocks meaning it got the signal. Am I doing something wrong? Do the doors have to be closed? Does the key have to be in a certain position?

Re: Keyless entry issue

Screw those damn factory remotes. Put an after market alarm on the car with keyless option, and hatch/trunk release.... you wont have issues...
