Angry Keyless Entry!

ok wtf is up! my keyless entry remote quit working today!! it just doesnt work!! im so mad!!! man i last used it tuesday and today is thursday and at noon i went out to my car and my damn keyless entry remote doesn twork at all. the lock doesnt work, the unlock doesnt work and the hatch doesnt work either. so first i thought it was my remote just decided to die on me and needed new batteries. i do have a 95 and that would make it 8 years. so i went back in my house and got my spare remote which i know owrks cuz i dont use it too often. i went out to my car again and nothing!!!! so i was like well it might be my battery. but i dont see how it could be dead. so i used my door key to unlock my car and the dome light came on as usual. i hit my door unlock lock switch inside the car and it works fine. i opened the glove box popped the hatch and it worked fine. iWTF!!!! i went and started my car. started up fine. no signs of a weak battery or anything.

what could this be? what could cause this? i havent done anything weird lately or damnage anything hopefully. has this happened to any of you guys? is there way to reprogram it or reset it to make it work again? is their a fuse or something or sensor or antenna some where in my car that i need to check for? it really sucks! it has always worked fine and just doenst work now at all. it has been cold lately does htat have anything to do with it. it has been cold for the past week though! im so aggravated right now. i wish i can fix it. let me know how to or somehting. thanks!

I'm not sure why they would just stop working unless the receiver in the car has failed. You can try to reprogram them, http://csce.uark.edu/~jgbertr/rb/4th_gen_tech1.html , that site has a link to how to reprogram your keyless entry.

Good luck man

Check your fuses. Mine quit working once and one of the fuses was blown. The fuse that blew in my case was labeled PWR ACC.

yea thanks man i will check the fuse but if the power accessory fuse was blown wouldnt my door locks not work cuz they still do just my keyless entry! did it fix it when u replaced the fuse?

did u actually blow the fuse or did it blow by itself? thanks!

The fuse blew because the shock sensor for the alarm system shorted out. If I remember correctly, the locks still worked from the inside switches. Once I disconnected the shock sensor and put it a new fuse everything started working fine again.

My keyless entry doesn't work and the previous owner said that the alarm was disconnected because it wouldn't turn off after he replaced the battery in his fob.
I don't know where it was disconnected, nor do I know why the doors won't open, but are they on the same fused circuit?
All of this technology is new to me, so I'm fumbling around in the dark for the most part. Any suggestions that you have for troubleshooting would be appreciated.

ok, heres the deal, i replaced the batteries in one remote to test it. nothihng. i am mad! i also got a fused jumper to try to reprogram the remotes. i hooked it up, the doors locked, unlocked, and i pressed the button on a remote, nothing pressed it on the other nothing. wtf is up! whats wrong do i need new remotes or what? or do i need a new receiver? i hope not how much would a receiver be? if i could get new remotes that would d be better. also i havent checked the receiver yet but how would i check it. i will just make sure everything is plugged in right. and also if the rreceiver is broken, then will an aftermarket alarm be able to still lock unlock doors via the alram remotes. i will be puttin in a viper 300 esp alarm soon. so if the alarm still works, i will just not worry about gms remotes. t hanks

I had the same results today. Stopped by Radio Shack and picked up new batteries, so I knew they were good. Jumped wires and got the lock to cycle indicating that it was in program mode. Pushed button on remote and no joy.
