Key lock cylinder or ignition switch?

Starting last week, When I turned the key, there would be a second or two hesitation, then the car's starter would kick in and start. During that hesitation, the car's power would seem to go but then the starter would kick in. Well now, when I turn the key to the "on" position, the lights on the dash do not come on (S.E.S light, ABS Light, etc) When I turn the key on, the radio and lights still work, but nothing else comes on. No Fuel pump, nothing. I just bought a new battery yesterday and it didnt fix it. Is it the key lock cylinder or ignition switch?

I would say it points to the ignition switch. The gauge cluster lights and such are mechanically operated by the switch via the key cylinder rod and does not care if the cylinder can read the key pellet.

Thanx.
Do you have an install page for that? Can I do it myself?

I am working on a page. Not finished as yet. The best way is to remove the steering column. You can do it yourself. A manual could be helpful.

Not that I know of.

The steering wheel does not have to come off. Doesn't the Haynes show where the switch is?

No dude. My haynes book does not even mention the ignition switch. It does show how to replace the key lock cylinder though.

Just finished ignition switch R&R. I kinda rushed it, so if you see any spelling or other obvious problems, email me. There has been a rash of these dying lately, so I though I would hurry it up.

Thanx a bunch for your help. It was not as bad as I thought, and your web page was the main reason. Took me about 2 hours to do everything.
