Kevlar or Carbon Disk on SPEC STAGE 3 LT1 Clutch Kit
Kevlar or Carbon Disk on SPEC STAGE 3 LT1 Clutch Kit
Hola FBuds,
Had a quick question if you don't mind answerin'.
On a SPEC Stage 3 LT1 Clutch Kit, I have the option of Kevlar or Carbon Disk which can hold a rated 680hp, and I have the option of Ceramic Coated but I'm not dealing with 700hp+, so I've decided against that. = )
Anyways, of the two, (Kevlar and Carbon Disk,) which one would you experienceed users recommend. BTW, I will be matching it wih the SPEC Aluminum Flywheel.
Muchos Gracias,
Ruben F.

Last I talked to SPEC they didn't even recommend their own Kevlar clutches
I talked to one of the guys there because I was having issues with my SPEC Kevlar clutch. I had already toasted my previous non SPEC Kevlar clutch in only a few months and now was having problems with another Kevlar type clutch. He made it sound like Kevlar was very "finiky" in that it was very unpredictable and they were having a lot of issues with it. He suggested I go with a carbon clutch so I did. I can tell you this thing holds like a **** but, can sometimes be annoying as all get out to drive. I say "sometimes" because sometimes it is just fine and other times it chatters... go figure.
I'd have to recommend Carbon based on my kevlar experiences!

A HUGE thanks for your input Brent94Z,
Carbon Disk it is.
I hope the "sometimes" only occurs when I'm alone in the car... it's always dreadful when your date(s) asks you... "What's that noise?"
Good lookin'.
