K&N or Moroso?

First off, I know this question has probably been answered so if it has, I apoligize. I'm just having a tough time finding it in the searches. I'm just looking for opinions on these systems and suggestions on which I should go with. I've finally decided to replace my banged up slp intake with one of these 2 systems since from what i've read these 2 show the best gains. I'm sure both of them are probably very similar as far as power gains go but correct me if i'm wrong. But which one has a better quality and fit? Any opinions or suggestions?

Re: K&N or Moroso?

arent they basically the same damn thing?? My K&N fits great even though its a little tough to get the filter on for lack of room under the car. But that goes for both of em

Re: K&N or Moroso?

They look like they're the exact same, but I think the K&N is a little more open in the tube and flows a bit better. I used to have the K&N on my 94 Z28, but I decided to go with the Moroso on my 95 Z28.

The Moroso is cheaper though, so it's not a bad choice IMO.

Re: K&N or Moroso?

Like I said, the main thing i'm trying to figure out is which one has a better fitment and which has a better quality. I have read good things about both of them flowing good and also read about some people having fitment issues with the moroso. I was wondering if the k&n also had fitment issues. I'd rather not go cutting away at anything unless I have to. My slp was a PIA to put in and it still doesn't sit right but that thing got bent up which is why i'm looking for a new one.

Re: K&N or Moroso?

My K&N fits fine, no cutting.. Tightening the clamp on the filter from underneath sucks though.

Re: K&N or Moroso?

Gains will probably be the same as there is little difference in the design. As for the quality issue, I have the Moroso and it is holding up just fine after several years now and the fitment is very good as well.

Re: K&N or Moroso?

I have had both on the car and I honestly think there was no gain in performance between the two. They both added the same power and I couldn't notice a difference. I think the Moroso fit better but, the K&N had a bigger opening going into the MAF if I remember correctly. So I think the K&N would flow a LITTLE better but not much to make a difference. And, like everyone else said it is a BI**H to get the filter on from underneath the car.

Re: K&N or Moroso?

Why not try a Lingernfelter CAI? Their like 160$ and have a bigger K&N finlter than the K&N CAI does ...

And it is a pretty nice design. Fits perfect. And is 40$ cheaper.

Re: K&N or Moroso?

i got the moroso.

mine came from a buddy htough, so i didnt get the complete thing

had to rig something up, which included one of those 4" rubber tube connecters, a 2 inch long peice of 3 inch pvc and that is how my filter is attached.

so it goes ...filter to pvc (something hard to clamp onto), pvc to coupling (dont even see the pvc at all, some in the filter, some in the coupling) and coupleing to the moroso tube,

but he gave me the tube for 25 bucks, and i had a filter already, so it only cost me about 6 bucks for hte coupling and a spare piece of pvc. and you cant even see the rigging i did cuz its down in that little area below where the stock air filter assembly is

from what i've heard though, the two are the nearly identical, go with whichever one you get a better deal on.

Re: K&N or Moroso?

I have the GMMP chrome CAI. I get tones of compliments on it, only two people in Indy with it as far as I know and I am one of them.

Everyone has the Morooso and K&N.

Re: K&N or Moroso?

I bought a Trans-Dapt CAI from Summit recently. Built very well, installed solidly, and was only $140

That's a dead ringer for the Moroso including the blue coupling.

Here's the Moroso.
