K&N help, quick!

Well isn't winter just wonderful, tommorow morning I'm moving to a new house and when were all done I'll move my Z as well, I went out this afternoon to plug her in and what do I notice, my FIPK filter is dangling around on top of the splash guard . I had to replace the same kit that came on the car when I bought it last year due to the same problem, I'm thinkin the damn -40 weather we get here causes it to shrink up and fall off. Anyway I have the filter inside now and I want to clean it, I don't have any filter oil or cleaners, what can I do?

you need to go by an autoparts store and pick up a K&N filter recharger kit. It comes with cleaner and oil. Its only about 10 bucks and is good for many many many cleanings.

You need to still get the filter oil, but if you just want to clean it right now the box says you can use a mild detergent.

if you have a K&N filter it has a warrenty for 10 years or a million miles. Using anything other then the filter recharge kit will void the warrenty. If you don't care about the warrenty then by all means use what you have at your disposal.

I clean mine once a year. But K&N says to do it between 30k and 50k miles

The general rule of thumb is that the filter needs to be cleaned when the dirt build up gets as thick as the wire mesh. The usual interval is 30,000 - 50,000 miles depending on driving conditions. We recommend that you check your filter about once a year in normal usage.
