K&N CAI not sealing up with MAF

I got this problem ever since I bought the car. The K&N CAI does not want to seem sealed up on the MAF Ends. It just doesnt want to go on. In the event that I can/do get it somewhat good, it moves back to this position.

Do I need another rubber adaptor for the CAI or should I just go to Home Depot and get a rubber hose? Anyone else having these problems?

My moroso kit's couplers work well. If the K&N kit is the same setup as the moroso then i'd suggest going to the local ricer shop and get a coupler the appropriate size. Shouldn't be more then $10 or so.

I had to take my MAF off completeley and tighten it down really tight to the FIPK then hook it up to the engine.

Whenever I would do that, in like 10 minutes of driving it would go back like to picture.

Just sand off the edges a little bit so it will be straight and it will work just fine.

Re: K&N CAI not sealing up with MAF

I also had the same problem with my K&N FIPK. I ended up using two clamps on the rubber coupler. I put them together outside of the engine bay. You can see the two clamps in the picture below. I've had it this way since June and it worked until i parked it for the winter in November. (Haven't gotten the car out yet this year)

Put the clamp as close to the MAf as possible. You may have to cut the "rib" off the radiator as per the K&N instructions.

Do you think I can leave the FIPK in the car (airfilter is a PITA to get on and off) and just take off the intake elbow and try it that way?

Yes. Just disconnect the intake elbow from the throttle body

Re: K&N CAI not sealing up with MAF

What I did was cut a hold in the part where the filter goes down into the well. So That I can put on or take off my entire intake setup from elbow to filter on and off.

Its a very common issue with the intake elbow, what we did as take me and my friend and we forced into place, it fits perfect. I also throught about hogging out that rib from the MAF to the CAI.
