k&N CAI Filter Falling Off
k&N CAI Filter Falling Off
So i installed the K&N FIPK gen 2 cai kit on my car and it was a huuuge pain to get the filter on. Once on i took it for a drive and it was fine.. The next day i take it for a real drive and i get back and the filter is sitting at the bottom plastic area.. it fell off..
even when i put the filter on the first time i tightened it soo much that the plastic collapsed in a bit and the filter fell off so then i tighted it up not quite as much but still quite tight.. and it still fell off.. so what is the problem? what am i suppose to do to get it to stay on completely? cut holes and screw it on? duct tape? silicon?
what do i do guys?

Ugh. I had the same problem with my K&N kit, but instead mine wouldn't stay on the gosh-darn MAF. I blame shoddy production, I had to hollow out the tube with a knife to get the MAF to fit snug and put the clamp back on. Maybe add weatherstripping or something to the tube to give it more diameter so the filter will stay. I'm sure someone will have a better solution...or maybe a smaller filter? Good luck.
It's a common problem for K&N FIPK's filters to fall off. I'm not sure if upgrading to a T-clamp would help or not, others have either lived with it or switched intakes. I sold my K&N and bought a TFS elbow and I'm making a custom intake after I delete my ABS.
I have modded my FIPK to fix this problem. The lower plastic part that secures the filter has been replaced with a 4" metal tube. I can crank the filter solid enough so there aint no way in Hell it will fall off again.
I will try to post some pics ASAP.
