K&M air filter and 93 z28

can anyone tell me if i can put a 93 k&m air filter on a stock 93 z28. Does it fit easily or do you have to buy special fittings to make it fit.

You can order a "K&N" air filter for your Camaro at any Autozone, Napa, Pep boy's, Advanced Autoparts, etc. Just tell them your make, model, and engine displacement and they should be able to help you out. The air filter installs easy, just unscrew the airbox and swap filters and reinstall the airbox. Just make sure you follow proper oiling instructions for the filter. Amsoil Ea filters are very good also.

One more time..... "K & N".

If you are looking for improved performance, rather than just changing the air filter panel, why not install a "cold air intake" (CAI). This is a complete intake system, from an air filter located inside the driver's side front fender, to the rubber elbow that directs air into the throttle body. The CAI will provide at least double the HP gains provided by putting a K&N panel in the stock airbox.

Look for CAI kits from K&N, Moroso, SLP, Callaway, LPE, AS&M, etc.

The K&N cold air intake system is sold as the "FIPK", and includes the K&N cone filter:

oh wow that is pretty sexy looking. I want one!! I probably will but im just curious about something. My z28 has a rubber elbow looking thing that is hooked up to the stock air filter. does that mean that z28's come with a stock cold air intake in 93?

No it doesn't Im guessing you have the donkey dick on it. Yeah the stock rubber intake is not a cold air. When you remove it you will remove everything except the maf sensor and the elbow.

heres a link to a picture of my intake. not really sure i see the resemblance of a donkey dick but maybe your talking about the thing that hangs down that looks like a water trap on the bottom side of the rubber fitting. anyway let me know what you guys think

Yes, that's stock, and no, it's not a Cold Air Intake. I can see how you would think it, since it's in a general, similar shape. However, the kits you purchase are less restrictive, and not closed up as much.

The long tube hanging down from the inlet elbow is a resonance tube, to reduce intake noise.

Yes, that is a totally stock air intake system. The CAI will produce a decent HP gain.

Cool, thanks a lot for all the help. I will post a new pic when I change things around so you guys can see if you want. By the way what does my maf sensor look like? I always get confused about where those things are.

Haha i know it doesn't resemble that its just that i hate it never new what it was so made up a name for it. Also make sure when installing it make sure the filter is on tight when i first installed mine it kept falling off. You'll see what im talking about when you install it.

According to your first post, you have a 1993. The 1993 does not have a mass air flow (MAF) sensor. Instead of measuring the air flow directly, the 93 uses a speed-density setup, that calculates mass air flow from the displacement, RPM, volumetric efficiency tables, inlet air temp and manifold absolute pressure.

If you had an MAF sensor, it would look like this, and would be located between the end of the plastic air intake tube and the rubber 90-degree elbow:
