Question Just put on subframes. What paint do I use for touch up?

I’m hoping one of you guys can help me out. I just put on BMR tubular subframe connecters. I now need to touch up the area where I used the angle grinder to get down to bare metal and also touch up the weld area. Is there a certain paint that is good for this? Do I need to prime it? I also thought of spraying some type of underbody coating around the welds also.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

I used black rubberized rocker guard paint.

Thanks for the reply. Where do I find it? Do most autoparts stores carry it? Also, did you prime it at all?

I assume this dries pretty thick?

Yup most auto parts places have it.

It dries in a foamy/bubbly texture so its got some depth to it. Not much but more than regular paint.

Here are some pics of mine. I used Rustoleom primer and then black. Its holding up quite well. You can't see the old/new dull/shiny lines after some miles or a drive in the rain, it blends together quite well.

and yes, they are a noticeable recommended mod

Van5150,

Yes, they make a noticeable difference. It's funny, a lot of times I don't notice them, but everyonce in a while there is a BIG difference. I have one road around here that is blacktop without potholes but is very wavy/bumpy. I noticed it right away. I felt more like I was spanning the bumps rather than twisting with them. I notice it the most twisting the car back and forth. It's a great feeling. No creaks like there used to be. Also, just pulling out of my driveway I can feel the car stays flat rather than twisting and squeeking at the end of the driveway. I'm definately glad I put them on. They don't get rid of all the squeeks because some if them are not body twist related. Any rattles that you have from the dash or interior stuff most likely will still be there because those rattles are caused by impact, bot twisting of the body. My T-tops don't squeek anymore unless it's very cold with a BIG bump.

94formulabz,
Thanks for the info. Your pictures look very good. How long have you had the Rustoleum on there? Looks like very nice welds also. I was lucky. My father in law has a lift and a welder in his pole barn. He did it for free, and I always have access to a lift. Great to have a father-in-law that likes that.

I've had them on since march of this year. I was very happy with how they turned out.

The stuff Grip used sounds like paint and ok, just be leary of rubberized 'coatings' that isn't really paint and just made to make undercarriges look better right before you sell the car
