I have to agree, I have a T-Top car too and I noticed a huge difference after My DMS SFC were installed. The DMS tuck up so well that I did not loose any ground clearance at all (as a matter of fact, You kinda have a tough time seeing them even when you get on your hands and knees to look under the car). The DMS subframe has the BEST deal in my opinion. I pay like 135.00 for them SHIPPED (I think it was at a group purchase price but can not remember)and they do a Great Job. You will notice all of your squeaks are gone, the car will take bumps much better, you will notice it handles and drives better too (its more rigid). All SFC will do this but for the price, wieght difference and the ground clearance that the DMS SFC is the Best...IMHO. I think the KennyB and SLP are Great but there were too expensive for me, plus they weighed more than the DMS and I did not want them in my car since my car already weigh 3850# with me in it and without subframes.

I would say do yourself a favor and contact Eric at DMS.

Hope that helps,

I bought my KBDD's directly from him when they first came out for the f-body (97?). Paid like $145 plus shipping. Nobody else had anything like it for the f-body and Kenny Brown products were mostly for rustangs. Since then the price has gone up and I've seen copy cat designs. I installed them and some Eibach Pro's within a week apart and it has been a totally different ride ever since and still rides just as well. I generally cut a better 60ft than my LS1 buddies stock for stock and I still havn't perfected a launch. Our skill levels being the same I would credit a stiffer chasis for this and well worth a minor weight gain considering its daily driver status. It was stated earlier, its an "investment".

I got mine from Sybersport.com

They are double diamond style and pretty damn cheap.

You would have to email him for prices.

I think these were J&M SFCs.

would going out and buying a 1"x2" steel box tubing approx 70" long and powder coat them and just have them welded in place, be the same as all the name brands you guys are saying you have. The reason im asking is because theres a company selling them on ebay for like $60. but i know i can go out and get the same thing for alot cheaper price myself.
just asking, thanks

The cheap kind sure.

Not the double diamond kind which ties your chassis together.

I had Kenny Browns installed (at Kenny Brown's shop in Indy) last year on my 94 Z28. After I picked the car up, I didn't notice (sotp) a huge difference. But it behaves better on the road! Also, when I jack the car up from the front jacking point (right behind the front wheel) it also lifts the rear wheel. That is visually the biggest difference. I did this mod when I was temporarily home for a week from Germany and there I drive a 2002 M3 which has a very very stiff chassis.
I am also thinking about a 8 point weld in cage inside the car. I wonder if the weld-in cage will stiffen the car as good as the subframe connectors? If so, I will remove the subframe connectors..

The truth is, you really don't need the double diamond SFC's. It's just added weight and a waste of money IMHO. I bought the ones from ebay and they work great. I've driven cars with the double diamonds, and there was absolutely no difference that I could feel.

The three manufs I've found for weld-in convertible SFCs are:

Kenny Brown
BMR
Global West

Thunderracing.com carries Global West.

Anyone have any experience with the BMR's or Global West's for convertibles? My GM tech friend said the KB's are noisy and doesn't recommend them (+ they're pricey as hell).

I havent ridden in my car with the BMR's - but the fit and finish was just about perfect. Aside from how new they are, they look like they should be there. They hide right in the floorpan and dont loose any ground clearance. I got them on special from BMR for $125 - it was an overstock deal. I'll let you know the diff once I drive the car next week.

I agree with the added weight, but on a product like a SFC, Most ANY brand u get, u will not really really feel anything to the extent were u can compare say a DD with a BMR. True most people say that they can instantly tell, but a lot of it is in your head. Just the way us humans minds work.

If you look at theh quailty of the KENNY Browns and compare then with the others, theres no question in my mind that they are top quilty, thus the reason i bought them. Thats my opnion and lots of people wont agree, but for the extra dollars, you mind as well do it once and do it right.

Theres a better chance that the DD would help more compared to the other brands, then by hurting right? Why not then get them then?

I bought the KBDD because I plan to have the car FOREVER and I want absolutely no chassis flex, so the weight was not the number one priority. If your just going to drag race, then I recommend the regular connectors. If you are going to road race then get the DD.

I would disagree.

BMR straight SFCs just connect the front of the car to the rear while double diamond design connects the driver's side to the passenger side as well.
