Just Installed McLeod Street Twin and Transmission Failed!!!

I just re-installed my McLeod Street Twin after having it reconditioned by McLeod ($350). The transmission shifted smoothly and clutch engagement was nearly like stock...very good! I did notice more transmission noise, but I installed polyurethane motor mounts at the same time I did the clutch install. Also, the shift boot wasn't on so more noise anyway. After driving the car about 40 miles, it became difficult to shift progressively getting worse. At about 66 miles, the tranny started making a really bad grinding and whining noise like a bearing would. I tried to limp it home, but it kicked out of third gear repeatedly and finally locked up in 2nd as I was slowing to a stop. I could start the car with the clutch depressed, but when I released the clutch it would kill the motor. Even with the tranny in neutrtal, I couldn't even push the car off the road. After the tow truck arrived, we messed with it a while and were able to get in neutral so he could winch it onto the flatbed. I will be pulling it this weekend to inestigate further and I am going to call McLeod shortly. Any ideas as to what might have happened??? Anyone have a used T56 they would like to sell? I am going to rebuild mine, but would like to pick up a used one to get me back on the road soon.

Thanks,

Loren

is it possible you are running without any fluid in your trans? Sounds like it heated up and siezed. Probably unrelated to your clutch, but if it wasn't installed properly maybe it is related.

Dave,

At this point, I'm assuming the tranny has fluid. When I removed the tranny, I lost very little and didn't add any when I re-installed it...maybe that was my mistake! When I remove the trannny this weekend, that is the first thing I will check. I am certain I installed the clutch properly...heck I even took photos while doing it! I sure hope I didn't pull a dumb a$$ on the fluid thing

If it is burned up? Should I only replace bearings and any damaged parts or do I need all new internals?

Thanks,

Loren
