Just Installed K&N FIPK

Just finished this "easy" install which I thought would take just 30 minutes. I bought this used from one of our members and put it on last night. Maybe it was just me, but I had a hell of a time getting the filter charger onto the intake tube. You have to perfectly align the unit and when pushing from the bottom up, the whole intake just pushes upwards. You basically have to "hug" your front left bumper to get your left hand on the intake tube to keep it in place and use your right hand to shove the filter in place. I installed it without lifting the vehicle, which might have been easier.

Anywhoo, unit is on, and I understand why I see all these messages about it falling off. I tightened that lockring as tight as I could, so crossing my fingers.

I can say that the car does drive more smoothly. Don't feel much in first, but on the highways going from 60 to 85 is definitely more responsive.

So, for you folks who haven't got a CAI yet, take note that those top loaded systems like SLP's should be a lot easier to install.

Taking a look at the stock assembly I yanked out, the air has to make like 3 or 4 90deg turns through that little tube. I'm surprised my engine got any air with that stock "straw".

Enough complaining, just waiting for work to be over, so I can drive home....

Yea I just put a Moroso on mine. I had my bro get under the car and push the filter up while I pushed it down. I like the sound of the intake sucking in when you go WOT. My fav. thing about a cai.

Shove a wad of newspapers on top of the CAI elbow and close the hood.. that holds it down to make it a one man operation..

That is a good idea, I didn't think of that.
