Re: Just got a z28

I assume the bumper has been repainted (I assume you're talking about the front). Title is clear and no accidents reported on it. So you got me on that one. Yeah the SES light is on, I just freaking cleared it to.

So am I missing black plastic inserts for the headlights and lower grill? Or did some fbodies come like that? I know I've seen others cars that don't have them also.

Re: Just got a z28

I think those areas were just painted black from the factory. It could be a replacement nose piece. Mine has a Chevy bowtie in the center between the foglights. I was told that most replacement pieces don't have the bowtie, unless they come from the Chevy dealer.

It's a nice looking car. I think I like the center piece being painted body color, but I would consider painting the area around the headlights.

You are missing a bowtie but honestly i like the bumper the way it is, with the exception of the signal lights, get some black outs or clears .

They were painted flat black from the factory, and the bowtie is just an emblem its not molded into the bumper like alot of people think.

The paint on the front and rear bumpers is usually the first to go. When you find a car with a repainted bumper it's usually been wrecked or the paint was in bad shape and they just wanted to fix it. It's cheaper to have the whole bumper repainted. Clean carfax really means nothing... just means there was never a insurance claim on the car.

The reason I mention it is that from the factory, the headlight enclosures are painted a flat black and the rest of the bumper is painted the color that matches the rest of the car. On your car, the entire bumper is painted one color. Kind of a dead giveaway. Not a big deal, the bumpers usually get pretty nasty from stone chips and spider web cracks.

I figured that it was a repaint. But it is a 10 year old car with over 100k so no biggie. I just thought the black headlight area was plastic, not flat paint. It needs new fogs, while I'm at it I'll get a bowtie emblem and some clears. That with abot 400 coats of wax, and the front end will look sharp.

BTW I traded a 97 GMC Sonoma for it. Guy wanted a pickup and I wanted an fbody with something bigger than the 3.8L I had in highschool. Not a bad trade I think. So far I'm pretty happy with it. Not as fast as the bike but I love that lt1's punch.

Man, you have no idea. These engines have so much potential that I'm still shaking my head in amazement. I'm still running the stock freakin' intake for God's sake. There are guys in the 9's now - unbelievable!

your top should come down a little lower, check if you might have left something in the top's storage area

other than that, welcome to the forum

That's what I thought. I'll check into it, I couldn't find anything. Maybe because it's an aftermarket top it's not fitting as well?

I told my wife I wouldn't dump any money into this car. I plan on breaking that promise pretty soon. The stock exhaust has really gotta go.

The top will go down more so that the boot will fit on. Dont put anything behind the rear seats, it will break the glass when you put the top down, and its not easy to replace.

Well there is nothing back there. So you got me as to why the top won't go down. I folded down the rear seats and noticed the top hits on the top of the seatbelt holder. Any thoughts on that one?
