Its not high horsepower that blows the motors, its the high compression once boosted, you could only be making 350 to the wheels but if you are running more than 8 psi on a stock bottom end LT1 with 10.5:1 compression, that motor isn't going to last long at all. Thats why you always hear (mustangs respond so well to boost). Gee isn't that weird, they also come 9.2:1 compression from the factory and the 5 liters were 9.0:1. Of course they are going to respond better than motors in the compression range of 10 and higher. If I were going to boost an LT1, it'd be with lowering compression to about 8.5:1, and forged pistons with at least Eagle I beam rods.

Oh yea, you absolutely have to lower the compression before boosting the lt1. 10.5 to 1 is way to high. Something else that isn't a bad idea is splaying the main caps.

Kurt, an 02 mustang (cobra) wasnt supercharged, 03 was the 1st year. I think that you get snobs from all kinds of car owners doesnt matter what make really. I own a ford so I guess you hate me, I even work for ford so thats even worse I bet and you dont even know me. You're entitled to your opinion, I just try not to limit myself to one brand or model of car and respect any car that deserves it regardless of make.

Back to the Lt1, I was planning on putting on a V2 to give me some more needed HP and the claims are 450hp so, am I going to pop my engine?

Get a procharger instead.. Or an STS Turbo kit.

I am making over 450 at the wheels with a stock motor.

If it makes you feel any better, I beat up on an 03/04 Cobra at the track a couple months ago. He was cocky before that as he had beat 2 LS1s there.

Also, before the supercharger, with just bolt ons I was running 111-112 mph which is even with or a mph or 2 less than the Cobras. Pretty even cars. They are alright stock but nothing to write home about.

I was surprised and disappointed by the 2V in the 07 cobra but I saw the pics and read the spec sheet on them, seems like a step back but the power is there, maybe to keep costs down and they are ditching the 4V in favor of the 3V it seems.

The 3V GT's are quick, variable cam timing with heads that flow better than the 4V, just add boost, a friend has an 05 with a V2 making 440hp at the wheels with exhaust as well, seems pretty impressive.

Why the procharger over the V2 on my camaro? Just curious, I have no experience with vortec on chevs, just Kenne Bell on fords.
