Just fixed Leaking Intake Man. and Opti...one problem still here!
Just fixed Leaking Intake Man. and Opti...one problem still here!
Alright I just pulled my intake and re sealed it...I also ordered a new opti and threw that sucker in there. Also put in a new R O2 sensor...the L O2 was replaced like 2 months ago...both with straight from Cromer GM ones..so was the opti(from Cromer)
So I just started her up, and instead of starting up all rough and backfiring, it actually sounded like NORMAL! Horray(im guessing opti)....the only thing was as I was bleeding the coolant out with it running, I did hear ONE lil backfire/pop...but that was it. Turned it off, turned it back on and it was running fine. Scanmaster is throwing no codes, and all the numbers look good. SO I take her out...drives like a champ again(roads were wet though, so hard to tell...but rolling in second i stomped on it and it pulled harder than it has in about a year...HORRAY FOR THAT....Heres the only problem
When I come to a complete stop IN GEAR(Auto) and stay there for about 5+ seconds, the RPMS start to drop, and the voltage gauge sstarts to drop slowly(kinda eratically)...the RPMS go from like 950-1000...all the way down to around 550.
I ordered a freaking 170 amp alternator online, and put a new battery in her...both are like 7 months old maybe? It sounds like it would be the alternator going kinda, but when shes in neutral it idles fine almost all the time.
One thing I have NEVER done is clean my IAC...I tried to get it out when i was cleaning the TB, but i kinda stripped the lil hex nut thing, so I gave up....does this sound like something related to the IAC?
Sorry this is long, but im at a loss...any ideas please! Thank you!
One more thing...this hose seems to be falling apart, and my previous owner threw some electrical tape on there...but im pretty sure its not air tight and air is getting out...its the hose that goes into the side of the TB...Could that be throwing it off?

BUMP
Cliff notes: Fixed Intake Manifold Leak and replaced opti...car still drops in RPMS and battery gauges drops when I sit at a light IN GEAR...Could this be related to my IAC? Ive never cleaned the IAC, so im leaning towards that now. Alternator and Battery are quite new...

Sounds like the IAC. Take that TB off, get a new gasket and some carb cleaner and get to work
Cleaning it might not fix it, sometimes the IAC goes bad. I would see how gummed up it is. if its pretty bad it was probably just dirty.
