I just finished installing my Pacesetter LT's and ORY. There is a real funny smell now. I've only run the engine for about 5 minutes. Is this normal? I've also got a good bit of smoke coming from the engine. It seems to have gotten to be less, but there is still some. I remember hearing I can expect some smoke for a little while. Also, I lost electrical power for a little. No acessory power with the key, and it wouldn't start. I rechecked the battery/alternator and didn't notice anything, then it started right up. Is any of this normal? I painted them myself with some "high temp" paint (sucks, already coming off) I think this might be part of the smell. Any thoughts?

 

Oh yea, if you just painted the headers they're gonna smoke and stink for about 20 minutes until the excess flakes off and the rest fully cures. You can only put like one light full coat on the headers with that paint. The rest just flakes off and looks like ****. Even so, it'll only last about 1 month before looking like complete crap, sorry.

 

Don't be alarmed by the smell and smoke. This will fade off as you drive the car more. I thought the same thing when I first installed my headers. As for your car not starting, make sure you check all of your connections, has it continued after that one time?
