Just a few simple questions

First off, i did search for these, though i wasn't sure on the exact wording and whatnot, and i couldn't find a faq about the cars themselves, so i really must apologize for these newbie questions.

Ok, i plan on buying an f-body pretty soon here, and i'm thinking it would be a lot of fun to have a 6-speed, but I've only driven a manual once,(did pretty good), but i would really have to learn how to drive it. But my basic question is, which is a stronger tranny, the automatic or the 6-speed, in terms of handling abuse, and the like. Also, (sorry for the total newbage on this) are there significant 1/4 mile time differences for stock vs stock,(auto vs manual)?

Other minor questions i have, what is the base 1/4 mile time for around a 95 fbody?

Are there any really catostrophic things to work out for, in my old DSM,(cars which im more familiar with) you have to watch for crankwalk in the second gens...is there anything like that with f-bodys, other than optispark(?) which im still not to sure about what that is, etc.

And anything else that you think i should know to look for would be great, thanks in advance, and sorry about posting these kind of questions!

Hey Kevin from Ohio! I'm Kevin from Ohio!

Anyways. Both durable tranny's. I'd say the 6speed it thougher... and probably .1-.2 seconds faster in the 1/4. And yes, there are a ton of threads about this!

Kevin, I've never driven stick until I got my SS last year and I wouldn't go back. I enjoyed it so much that my new daily driver in my Z28 is an M6, too. The numbers are there on both LT1 and LS1 M6's being faster, but in the good driver's hands. If you want to enjoy driving and are willing to take the time and master manual driving at the track, you'll be telling the same thing to some guy on this board same time next year. Now that's coming from someone who drives in the Chicago city traffic, too.
