Just a few ???'s

Hey guys
I finally got my first Lt1 today and love it so far
I just had a few questions
I wanted to know if you could take that black carpet thing out from under the hood or is it better to leave there, also I wanted to know what the rwhp of this car was stock

The black padding is just a sound insulation. It fell out of my Z28 hood, now I have an SS hood and it has none.

The M6 cars usully put down about 250 RWHP, the A4 cars a bit less.

thanks
but would removing the black stuff have any bad effects...
also would you think that 115k miles is bad to race the engine a little, like do a burn out and really get on it once in a while??

my car has about 101k miles on it maybe a lil bit more...bought it used and i did all the mods my self!! car was stock when i got it, except for exhasut......i run my car hard everyday, and i mean i put the pedal to the medal..
so it shouldnt be too bad, maybe get a tune up 1st...
change oil, spark plugs and wires, fuel filter, oil filter....then you should be ok..

well I already did all of that stuff, but I was really just wooried about how long the engine will prob last if I keep it clean and fresh, because this is my first car and it's so fast and fun, and I know that I will deffinately get on it alot for the first few months I have it, but I need it to last for a few years, until I plan to rebuild it into a 383

pease help with info on if you think it is a bad idea to get on it alot with 115k miles on it.

also would I regret removing the black carpet stuff, or does it really serve no purpose
thankyou

I haven't seen any real reason why it is there, other than it acts as a fire blankett. Not sure if that is why it's there, maybe a fire blankett and sound sheild?? Not sure.

126K here and I run mine pretty hard. If you keep it tuned and fluids changed these LT1's are hard to beat.

Oh, and I took that black crap off of my hood because it was ugly.

well I think I found my first problem.....I think oil may be slowly leaking out of the timing chain casing because my oil, because the oil level is pretty low ( not low enough for light to come on....and there is all dirt with an oily substance to it all around that area ( almost like it sprys the surface very slowly when running) would a gasket and new timing cain be a normal wear and tear maintenane on an LT1 with 115k on it

My idea to test it is to clean up that whole area and then put new oil in and see how i happens or if it is the cause of my low oil condition.
