just dynoed car- questions

ok i have 377 at the wheels at 6200rpm. The guys told me thats pushing the stock internals. i had 355'lbs of torque. I have a vig 3400 thats only flashing at 3000. also my air fuel ratio was lean at upper rpms. should i get a smaller cam compared to my 230/236 or restall my converter higher. I'm gonna have bryan herter retune my car also. Just wanted to hear some opinions from you guys who know your stuff.

I think you have a great cam, It's aggresive, but not overly so. What kind of heads/intake do u have? I honestly don't see u having much of a problem with those numbers, they seem very strong. U said u made peak power at 6200, what is ur rev limit at? As long as your not spinning the bottom end past 6500 i think ur fine.

What is the A/F ratio from 5000 and higher? Are you running ported heads? List the mods and the wideband readings if you have them.

My car dropped to 12.4:1 at 6000 without tuning and up 12.9:1 with a PCMFORLESS tune. Get out the numbers and we can help a little more.

rpms kill motors, not hp-
well for the most part

10000hp at 3000rpms might cause some damage

Well I dont consider 6200 high but I didn't think much about it being an auto trans either. Im sure you can hold 6200 rpm but the motor wont last forever. One thing to watch out for though is detonation at that high of an rpm. Serious damage in those regions.

Don't forget, LT1 engines aren't fully balanced to spin past 6000 on the stock bottom end rotating assembly. This is why RPMs will kill a motor

My motor fell apart the 5th time I revved to 6500 with that cam. The car had 105,000 miles on it at the time. I loved that cam though for the whole 200 miles I had it in. The damages? 2 spun rod bearings and a spun main bearing. The end result? A 383 going in in the next couple of weeks. BTW, I cannot say with absolute certainty that the motor wasn't well on its way to being f***ed before the cam install.

Your motor was ready to go before you even put the cam in the car. When you have 7psi at idle that means you bearings are worn to hell. Your lucky it lasted as long as it did while having that psi for a few years. My motor has been revved to 6500 countless times and i have over 150k on it. In fact i race it daily.

If someone has a CC306 that makes all the power in high RPM's, there is no other choise to get those hp out but to rev the engine . How bad are high RPM's for a 100K stock bottom engine?
