I dont see how you could lose horsepower by just lowering the temperature of the intake air. Before I made my scoop I just took off the panel under the filter and and ran some before and after times at the track and dropped a .10 off my 1/8 mile times. Colder air is only gonna give you gains if anything at all.

BTW, the car does run kinda weird when in heavy rain with the scoop. So I bought a scoop that had a flap in it and put velcro on the flap so if it rains i can just lean over and flip the flap closed. Im going to make the scoop entrance connect directly to the filter to make it more efficient but i've never make time to do it

I considered doing that mod at one point. I didn't and probably won't because I think it would ba a minimal gain IF any. I don't however think that it could hurt power at all.

I don't think I lost horsepower, I think it created mad drag. I still ran decent times, just lost trap speed. I don't see how either. The runs were 15 minutes apart and I immediately got back my 3 mph I was missing when I ripped it off. That's proof enough for me.
