Just did the RAM AIR mod!!

lol well i was bored today, and i thought to my self might as well do something to my car...so went to home depot and bout a scoop ( the ones that go on the side of the hosue for the dryer stuff) and cut, drill, screw, and paint...and then i was done...pretty neat job for myself....took about 1 hour and 30 min...i know it doesnt do much but it may add 1-5 rwhp maybe, but i know it will work alot better at higher speeds.....

I'm not a fan of it because I don't want to have to clean my airfilter 4 times as often. And for it to really work good, you need to take some caulk and seal everything up, or else the air is going to go out where it use to come in at.

Free Ram Air is a useless mod, and if you want proof I'll give it to you.

I like you was bored one day, figured what the hell, spent the 5 bucks on the little gay scoop. Put it on all nice and neat, that day I went to the track and couldn't trap above 102.5.
Most of you are probably thinking oh, there are so many variables.
After about 4 passes of running 13.2 @ 102 or 13.3 @ 102 even a 13.6 @ 102(got beat by a srt-4 that ran a 13.5 that run). After that, I was pissed that I just lost to a neon and ripped the ****ing scoop off...

For the rest of the night, I was trapping 105 and running 13.2 @ 105 and 13.3 @ 105

DO NOT do the free ram air mod. There's proof that it does nothing but slow you down. I still have the hole in the underbody though, I don't see a harm in that. :-P

exact same thing as yours. :-P

My hole wasn't quite as big though, so my filter doesn't get as wet when it rains.

someone on here has a picture of the scoop built into the air dam under the car it looks sharp and wouldn't cause any more drag than the scoop originally did

true ram air is Useless...I found someplace don't remember where but some major company of performance parts did a interview with pontiac about there supposable ram air hp increase..and they admiiteed that it was just a sales boost..adding the "Ram Air hoods"

and that it was useless but looks kewl.

and I agree the ram air hoods did make the transams more appealing.
