Just bought ET streets

Ok, I just got the 11.5 x 16" ET streets from Summit (10% off ) but do I need to run the tubes? I know this has been debated before but for those not running the tubes, have you had any problems. They will be mounted on a stock 16 x 8 salad shooters. Thanks.

I myself and several friends have run them without tubes.

No problems I'm guessing especially running a lot faster than I will be. Good to hear. What purpose do the tubes serve?

Answer me this what purpose do the tubes serve? I am about to buy some et streets already mounted without tubes. How do these tire hook compared to nitto drags? I am sorry to crowd your thread with other questions, but I was just wondering?
Thanks,
Steve

These tires are softer than the Nittos and are just like a slick wiht tiny grooves. The BFGs and Nittos are more of a tire you can actually drive on the street.

From my experiences everyone gets better times with these.

The tubes are needed to run the tires at really low pressure I believe. I think it helps ensure that you don't pop the bead while running and tear up the rim or something.

Well then it sounds dangerous to run them without tubes?

I have heard of people running them with as little as 10-15 lbs of air... So, I'm thinking that you will probably be fine in most cases. I don't know for sure why the recommend running the tubes, but it would make sense that if you're running just 5psi there's a good chance that you could pop the bead loose from the rim. It's either that or run a beadlock (screw) setup

The tubes are for when you are running low tire pressure with a lot of horsepower/torque. You screw the tubes to your wheels. Look at any of the pro racer's wheels up close, you'll see the rims screwed to the tire. Otherwise, the tire will stick, and the wheel will spin. That is bad - it could cause a lot of damage to your car and possible hurt someone At the track, you ever notice some guys will have a white line painted on their slick? That's so when they watch the video, they can see if the tire and the wheel are spinning at different speeds.
