Hi! Does anyone know if it's difficult to install jounce bumper spacers on a 94Z? I want to get 17" SS wheels this week but wonder about the JBS install. Thanks for any help!

 

They are un-needed and just limit your suspenion travel. this is a bad thing

 

I'm with Ellis on this one... I have the AFS 17x11 50mm offset rims, and I use the stock jounce bumpers - no problems of any kind. At least what I have left of them. You will probably need to cut the corner of the bumper bracket (only if you are getting 17x11's), to clear the wheels, so they don't catch on the rim when you jack the car.

If you are set on installing the SLP spacers, there are only two screws holding the stockers to the subframe. This pic shows the stock jounce bumper after "surgery", and the two screws that hold it on:

I've put 17x9's and 17x9.5's and even 15x9.75's on my 2000 and 1995 Camaro Z28's and never required to touch or mess with the jounce bumpers....

Changing my torn jounce bumpers was one of the easiest things I ever did on the car..

 

I've got the AFS 17"x11" ZR-1s and have to be careful on hard corners 'cause they rub the inner wheelwell (in front of jounce bumpers). Try the wheels w/out the bumpers, and if they don't rub -- If they rub, order the bump extensions and put 'em in. An adjustable Panhard bar helps center rear but that just split the rub between sides for me instead of it rubbing real bad on left side only. Good luck, I'm still trying to get mine not to rub w/out the extensions

 

Have you tried a 3# hammer on the inner fenders.... it solves the problem..... . Cover the hammer marks with some rubberized spray-on undercoat, and you'll never notice it was violated.......

Yeah i went with the 3lbs Even under EXTREME driving nothing hits

 

Guess I was being too gentle with the 3#. I think I'll try grinding the bumpstops to clear my 17x11s, too.

Anyway, with 9 or 9.5 wide wheels, I don't think the bumpstop extenders are needed at all. Not sure about lowered cars, though.

 

I thought I read somewhere you will damage your fender if you use 17" wheels and no new spacers. But I guess I don't need them! Thanks guys!

 

No damage after 50k+ miles with 17x9s and no jounce bumper spacer.
