Joe Overton customers, inside please....
Re: Joe Overton customers, inside please....
At first, Lloyd was getting his cams from Joe O. Due to a few issues that don't need to be discussed, he is now getting all of the cam/valvetrain specs from Bret at Bauer Racing Engines. The original LE cams were not true customs, as they were just the 3 basic cams that Joe recommends, whereas now Bret has 3 basic cams that fit for the most common setups, but can adjust them for each individual setup.
FWIW I have the JOLT-2 (original LE2) in my 383, and I wish I had gone to the JOLT-3 (original LE3) as this cam seems small in a 383.

I've ran two Joe Overton cams. First was a BABY cam(220/226)in my stock bottem end lloyd elliot head setup. It ran a 11.71 at 116.7 in 2350DA(which equates out to a high 11.4x at 119 in zero DA). My next setup was the old LE2 package(which was Joe's cam), and I only got two passes with that setup, it ran 11.78 at 115.6 on a base tune, 255/50/16 drag radial, shifting waaay low out of first because I lifted so I didn't hit stall wall, shifting at 5900 out of 2nd, and then at 5500 in 3rd the converter locked and dropped the rpms to 3900 and bogged me bad. I was shooting for 11.30's at 120 on drag radials with no other mods other than just tuning.

Yes I was doing Loyds cams, and the news above shocks me somewhat and only reason I'm posting...Since Loyd came to me with his hat in his hand persay for help with cams that would work with his heads to keep him more competitive in the market.. Not sure why it was assumed thats the only cams I offered ,cause they are not by far..They were the ones he wanted when ordered cause they worked though they are 3 years old as far as design..As anything however and since all my cams are not on a 110
Theres better grinds I've done,... So to all recently looking at LE anything its not one of my cams.

Re: Joe Overton customers, inside please....
are these cams anywhere near driveable (for a weekend warrior) and anywhere near emissions compliant?
i wouldn't think so but...well maybe driveable since i don't mind much

I was planning on daily driving with the le2 cam. It's not really that bad and the few times I checked the mileage I got around 16mpg with it. I also had just a base tune and had a little surge but it was hardly noticeable.

Re: Joe Overton customers, inside please....
Guys the thread is about Joe Overton and his setups. It's probably best to ask questions about Lloyds stuff to Lloyd and in threads about his stuff.
A LE cam in a Comp box is from me.
Both the old (Joe O) LE cams and the new ones are drivable.
Again don't Hijack the guys thread just start a new one.
